Seiko Gakuin Junior and Senior High School was established in 1958 by a French missionary group, The Brothers of Christian Instruction. It started as a private junior and senior high school in Yokohama. As one of the most academically-advanced schools in Japan, Seiko Gakuin students graduate to study in top Japanese universities. Seiko Gakuin is ranked in the top 10 in student enrolment at Tokyo University, the most prestigious national university in Japan.
The school motto "Be Gentlemen" is based on the school's Christian background. Seiko Gakuin educates young generations to be gentlemen with high moral standards with great intellect. To achieve this, Seiko Gakuin puts a special emphasis on Christian education. Junior High School students take religious classes once a week to understand Christian values.
